Faith Without Obedience

Faith without obedience is obviously not faith. At best, it demonstrates only partial faith or part-time faith. I wonder about some Christians whether their disobedience is merely a temporary lapse in faith or a complete lack of faith. Sometimes the lapses seem to last for a long time, sometimes for a lifetime.

Romans 1:5: By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

Romans 16:25-26: Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, 26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

There are many individuals that tell me they are Christians but there are instructions in the Bible that they ignore. I wonder how much damage they do to themselves and their relationship with the Lord by their disobedience. I wonder if they have a relationship with the Lord. I also wonder how much damage I do to myself and my relationship with Him by my disobedience. I wonder how much time we spend disobeying the will of God, harming ourselves and our relationships with Him. I wonder how many rewards we forfeit by our disobedience. Only the Lord can measure those things.

Lord, please show us the instructions in the Bible that we are ignorant of, that we misunderstand, that we ignore and that we disobey. Make us and our faith complete in you.

Colossians 4:12b: . . . that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

Hebrews 12:2a: Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; . . .
